Marietta Montgomery, 86, Altus, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 28th, at Kincannon Funeral Home. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 29th, in the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at the Victory Cemetery west of Altus under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Marietta was born on October 15, 1937, in Headrick to GW and Tommie Ruth (Willis) Williams. She attended school at Duke before graduating from Martha with the Class of 1957. Marietta married Dale Montgomery on August 4, 1957, at her grandfather’s farm between Altus and Duke. She and Dale shared 49 years together before his death in 2005. Marietta was the founding owner/operator of Altus Petal Pushers, sharing her love for flowers and beautiful floral masterpieces with many. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, sewing, listening to country music – especially Alan Jackson, and volunteering to organize and cook church meals. She was a dedicated member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ in Altus. Marietta was ‘grandma’ to many.
Her husband, Dale; parents, GW and Tommie; daughter, Mona McDow; daughter-in-law, Tracy Montgomery, granddaughter, Jill Guffy; and siblings, TE “Buck” Williams, Judy Bennight, and Sue Marsh preceded her in death. Those left to honor Marietta’s memory are her son, Monty Montgomery and wife, Belinda; son-in-law, Randy McDow; grandchildren, Timothy McDow and wife, Patricia, Brenna Byers and husband, Ian, Dale Montgomery and wife, Brittany, and Chelsea Lake and husband, “Chunk” Justin Lake; great grandchildren, Austin McDow, Waylin McDow, Logan McDow, Levi Byers, Braelyn Pfeiffer, and Theodore Lake; sister, Jane Breeding; and special friends, Kristi and Eddie Williamson and family; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
