Marietta Young

Marietta (Wallace) Young, 96 of Michigan City, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025. She was born October 21, 1929 in Gary, Indiana to Carl Melton and Edith (Harris) Melton. Marietta is survived by her daughter Denise (Wallace) Kampersal of DeMotte, two grandchildren Tiffany Kampersal of Michigan City and Samantha Kampersal of DeMotte; and her brother Robert Goin of Michigan City. Preceding her in death are her father Carl Melton and her mother Edith Goin; her son Jerome Eugene Wallace; former husbands Theodore J. Wallace and Porter Young; her sisters Marian Long and Vivian Kepplin; her brother Richard Goin. Marietta was a former member of Faith Fellowship Church and a founding member of Heartland Christian Center. She was also a member of the Gospel Golden Girls singing group, played piano, and enjoyed doing her crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed shopping and going out to dinner with family and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 11th at Newhard Funeral Home in Westville. Pastor Jan Murray will officiate. Burial will be in Pinhook Cemetery. Visitation for Marietta will be on Monday from 3-7 PM at the funeral home.
