Hodapp Funeral Home Liberty TownshipMarilou (Tucker) Volkman, age 78, of Liberty Township, OH passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025. Marilou was born September 24, 1947 and grew up in the small farming community of Bradford, IL, as the third of four children of the late Arlie Tucker and Marian (Woodford) Tucker. On January 31, 1970 she married Bob Volkman from Streator, IL, who she met at the University of Illinois. Over the course of 52 years Bob and Lou made their homes in College Hill, OH; Sherman, TX; Finneytown, OH; Kobe, Japan; Singapore and Liberty Township, OH.
Marilou is a member of Cornerstone Church in Liberty Township, OH led by Pastor Tim Goodman. Previously Marilou attended Boyd’s Grove Methodist Church in Bradford IL, Northern Hills United Methodist Church and St. Vivian’s Catholic Church, both in Finneytown, OH.
Marilou is survived by her brother Gene (Mary) Tucker, and two sisters, Janet (Bill) Todd and Nancy (Jim) McGinn; four children: Thomas Scott (Ginny) Volkman of North Carolina, Sandy (Tony) Eagle of Liberty Township, Pete Volkman of Liberty Township and Patti Volkman of Fairfield Township; five grandchildren: Andrew (Mary) Volkman of Charlotte, NC, Lauren (Rome) Volkman of Louisville, KY, Jenna Eagle of Hamilton, OH, Charlie Eagle of Mountain Home, ID and Luke Eagle of Liberty Township, OH and three great grandchildren: Brooklyn, River and Alex.
Lou earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in home economics with a focus in early childhood education. Her life was centered on raising and nurturing her family. She had a passion for creating, first as a fiber artist, weaving baskets, then later as a lampworker, making glass beads.
Generous with her time and talents, Lou built great friendships wherever she lived. She was a world traveler with a favorite trip being a river cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest with husband Bob. They also extensively traveled the United States from coast to coast enjoying many national parks and a lifetime of family adventures.
Marilou will be laid to rest by her family on October 14, 2025 at Springhill Cemetery in Liberty Township, OH.

A Celebration of Life, open to all who love Marilou Volkman and the family, will be held at Cornerstone Church, 7600 Princeton Glendale Rd, Liberty Township, OH 45011 on October 25, 2025 at 11am. Please plan to share lunch with us at the church following the service.
