Marilyn M. Bare, 93, of Lancaster, passed away on March 1st, 2026, at Homestead Village. She was the loving and devoted wife of F. Robert “Bob” Bare Jr. to whom she was married for 72 years.
Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Creston and Hope (Shreve) Miller.
In 1950, Marilyn graduated from McCaskey High School, then furthered her education at Temple University receiving her nurse’s certification and spent much of her career as a registered nurse at Lancaster Osteopathic Hospital. Marilyn and Bob were lifelong residents of Lancaster County other than for a few years in St Louis, MO and Hampstead, MD. Marilyn was a dedicated Mom and an active supporter of her children in all of their endeavors. She was also an avid reader, Phillies fan, bridge player (most notably with the “BBSS” bridge club - Bare, Boyer, Snyder, and Sload), a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey for over 50 years and many trips to the Florida Keys.
In addition to her husband Bob; Marilyn is survived by her children Michael (Donna), Christopher (Donna) and Martha Lane (Thomas); her grandchildren Rob, Andrew (Alyssa), Samantha (Ty), Kent (Kara), Jacqueline, Allison, Kelly, and Erica; her great grandchildren Violet, Silas, Elliott and Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her eldest son Stephen Peter and sister Ginny Boyer.
Marilyn’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Homestead Village; as well as the staff at Eleanor Home Health.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Saturday, March 7th, 2026, at 11:00 AM. A visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Homestead Village Employee Appreciation Fund at 1800 Village Circle, Lancaster, PA 17603 or the Lancaster Conservancy at 117 S.
