Marilyn A. Blow, 83, passed away June 30th at her home in Richmond, Vermont.
Marilyn grew up in Bethel and graduated from Whitcomb High School. Her parents were Maurice and Alice (Reed) Root. She loved her group of Whitcomb school pals and maintained friendships with them throughout her life.
Marilyn had a long career with the State of Vermont, retiring from the Agency of Human Services in 2003. She enjoyed her time working for the State and made many dear friends. She was adept in the art of "shorthand" and had beautiful handwriting.
After raising a family in Tunbridge and Montpelier, she ultimately made her home in Richmond with her husband of over 30 years, Lionel. Marilyn loved being a part of their business, Green Mountain Ceramics. She especially enjoyed painting ceramics and displaying the finished pieces at craft shows, fairs and various Vermont businesses.
Gardening was also a passion. She and Lionel had large vegetable gardens and prolific berry bushes, but their flowers were the showstoppers. People passing by would often stop and take pictures. Marilyn and Lionel would take time every day from early spring through late fall to work outside, planting, weeding and harvesting. There were always fresh flowers in the house.
Marilyn was a voracious reader as were her mother and sister. She frequented the Richmond library and later, loved her Kindle. She enjoyed going to yard sales, book fairs and flea markets. She would always come home with books.
In addition to her beloved husband Lionel, Marilyn leaves behind her daughter Lisa Branson (Perry), son Rick Durkee (Lisa), and son Ken Yearman, Jr. (Diane), six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a niece Stacey Delgaudio (Jake), two stepchildren; Calvin Blow (Diana) and Wendell Blow, 4 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents, sister Maureen Osborne (Charlie), nephew Michael Dexter (Theary) and stepdaughter Vanessa Blow.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
