Marilyn Joy Cummings joined God for her next adventure on April 2, 2024, at the age of 92. She lived her life with a sense of unmatched adventure, enthusiasm, and generosity all while cheering on her family, NASCAR racing, and multitude of underdogs, with a beautiful heart of gold.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Eryl and Violet Cummings, her husband, Howard Burk McCormick, sister Phyllis Watson, daughters Cherrie Brown and Bonnie Wilson and grandsons, Cayle McCormick, and Dominic McCormick-Rector
She was born in San Jose, California, where she attended school and worked in various public service roles in her home state. She relocated in Farmington, New Mexico where she lived her life to the finish line.
Marilyn is survived by her children, Kenneth Burk McCormick (Maureen), Howard Dough McCormick (Beth), Rhonda McElroy and Lantrea Rapheal. Her circle of love includes but is not limited to Twelve grandchildren, Tammy Alexander, Ryan Brown, Tiffany Brown, Melody Ellis, Elizabeth Fisk, Angelee McCormick, Luke McCormick, Andrew Meyers, Micheal Meyers, Doug Payne, Marisa Seitzinger, Tony Shipp, Nineteen great-grandchildren, Four great-great grandchildren, and several bonus grandchildren who were born in her heart.
Marilyn leaves this world a legacy of faith to her family, and those whose lives were impacted over the years by her loving and contiguous spirit. The faith she carried was paramount in her world. She has completed her earthly journey and is now at rest, complete and shining in the presence of God.
