GLENVILLE, N.Y. - Marilyn R. Dillon, age 83, died peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Glendale Nursing Home with her family by her side. Marilyn was born on September 22, 1942, in Schenectady, N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Byron and Ruth (Woodruff) Ostrander.

Marilyn graduated from Mohonasen High School. She then worked at the Schenectady Library, before joining the New York State Police as various office assistant positions at Division Headquarters and spent her last years as BCI Secretary in SP Wilton so she could be close to home. She worked for NYSP for over 32 years until her retirement in 2002.

In early years, she lived in Rotterdam, raising her daughter, Robin, from her first marriage. They enjoyed time with her family, going on trips to the beach, Florida, and Glen Lake to visit with good friends in the summer. She was also an active member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Marilyn married her husband Roger in in 1983 and moved to Gansevoort, where they lived happily for over 42 years. They went on bus trips, cruises, trips to Las Vegas, Maine, and enjoyed going up to see Roger's family in Newcomb.

Marilyn was an avid reader. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and holiday wreath-making with family. She loved to bake and was an active member of Fortsville Methodist Church and she particularly enjoyed when they did apple pie making fundraisers in the Fall.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, Roger J. Dillon; her daughter, Robin (Scott) Dyanick; grandchildren, Brianna (Louis) Leggieri and Casey (Jesse) Melanson; and her sister, Laurel (Richard) Straight; and her sister-in-law, Nancy Ostrander. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Leticia Dillon; and her step-grandchildren, Austin (Massena) Roy and Larissa (Josh) McDonough; as well as five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her brothers, Darryl and Russell Ostrander.

Interment will be held privately for the family in Vale Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn's name to either the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741 or to the Moreau Community Center, 144 Main St, South Glens Falls, NY 12803.
