Marilyn Lucille Doslak (nee Frates), age 90, of Avon, gracefully and peacefully passed away on September 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Francisco, California, grew up in Washington DC and lived in Avon for the past 10 years. She resided in Lorain where she lived an active lifestyle for 53 years. Marilyn graduated High School from Sacred Heart Academy and completed her college education at Immaculata Junior College, both in Washington DC. While working at the Georgetown University Book Store in Washington DC, she met the love of her life William while he was attending Dental School. They were married for 54 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lorain County Dental Society, where she was past President, the Colony Club and the W.A.M.A.D.A.S. She was a passionate volunteer as a Guardian Ad Litem through the Voices for Children program. Marilyn was an avid Bridge player for many years and a member of Elyria Country Club where she enjoyed socializing. Marilyn's hobbies included cooking, baking, traveling, playing games and spending time with her family. Marilyn will be remembered for her exceptional creativity, many talents and her love of sharing wonderful stories and telling great jokes. Her vibrant smile and classic beauty will be dearly missed. Survivors include her children: Bill (Kathy) Doslak of Granger, Indiana, Mary Beth (Jeff) Kneisel of Amherst, Jeanne (Ian) Ostrowski of Avon, Monica Zapora of North Royalton, Jacqueline (John) Albrecht of Columbia Station. Her legacy as Mimi will continue to live on through her 15 grandchildren: Alexander, Margaret, Abigail, William J. III, Matthew, Jessica, Emma, Brian, Rachel, Katherine, Scott Jr., Liam, Cecilia, Elizabeth and Sarah. Great Grandchildren: Luna, Molly, Grady, Jack and Thomas and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. William J. Doslak DDS, her parents George (RPh) and Lucille (nee Bryant) Frates, brother, Navy Lt. Commander George H. Frates Jr., sister Beverly Ann Molkenburhr and infant brother, James. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Amherst on Monday, October 6 at 11:00 am. Family and Friends may join at the Church at 10:00 am for a brief gathering before Mass. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Amherst following the Funeral Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, 200 St. Joseph Dr., Amherst, OH 44001.
