Marilyn "Lynn" Kaiser Guy

Lynn passed away on December 23, 2023, at the age 81 in Seattle, Washington. Her family was present in grief. Her death was by natural causes due to organ failure. She is survived by her husband Richard of 60 years; daughters Victoria, Heidi, and Emily; three grandchildren, Jessica, Soheila, and Ciara; one great grandchild, Trenton; and her sister Anita Voliva. A daughter Tanya regrettably died shortly after birth. Lynn was born in Chewelah, Washington, later moving to a farm in Edwall, Washington, where she attended school. She grew up as a farm girl cooking for harvest crews. Lynn attended Holy Names High School in Spokane and later attended college at Seattle University and Gonzaga University.

At the age of 40, she received her master's degree from Eastern Washington University, graduating Summa Cum Laude in Psychology. Lynn and Richard married November, 1963, and resided in Spokane County until 1991. Lynn directed the building of their home in Nine Mile Falls, Washington, which initially had hot water in the toilets. They later moved to Olympia and Steilacoom, Washington; Honolulu, Hawaii; and La Quinta, California, before returning to Washington in 2019. Lynn and Richard's last home was at the Murano Retirement Facility on First Hill Seattle, where Lynn was active with community and bridge friends.

In 1965, while wishing a Gonzaga professor and his wife goodbye, as they were departing Spokane to teach in China, and over a diminishing bottle of wine, Lynn and Richard promised to visit them in China, which they did. They went all out with Mao Jackets. A glorious adventure! Lynn's adventure with seeing the world began with China, then came Turkey, Ghana, Ethiopia, Japan, Italy, Croatia, Egypt, India, Jordan and Syria, among others. Lynn attended conferences around the United States meeting judicial leaders and their spouses. When Richard told her he had to attend a meeting 30 miles away, Lynn would ask, "Shall I pack a bag?" It was not simply adventure, although that was there. Lynn went to see people, the ancient ruins of departed civilizations, the architecture, and to understand the development of our world and what a short period of time it is.

Lynn loved all people. Lynn talked to those she met and understood what most people want is a better life for themselves and their children. Lynn talked with friends throughout the world by phone and FaceTime every Saturday. Love endures.
