Marilyn J. (Houston) Hephner, 91, of Newburgh, Indiana passed away at The Village at Hamilton Pointe on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

Marilyn was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 27, 1934 to the late Jewell Houston and Alice (Bone) Houston. She worked 25 years for the Pigeon Township Trustee office, 17 years as part owner of a ceramic shop in California and 10 years at Buehler's Buy Low.

She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #407, senior bowling league at River City Bowling and cooked dinners for the Lion's Club. Marilyn was a faithful member of All Saints Parish where she was a Eucharistic Minister, sold Script Cards and helped with hospitality & bereavement meals. Marilyn loved her four dogs and her time with the grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great- great granddaughter.

She loved her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew her.

Marilyn is survived by her daughters; Kathy (Gies) Mattingly of Newburgh, IN, Deborah (Gies) Daniel of Evansville, IN; sons, James Gies (Lorie) of High Point, NC and William Gies of Newburgh, IN; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 1 great- great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Hephner; her parents, Jewell and Alice Houston; daughter, Karen (Gies) Phelps; sisters, Patsy (Houston) Hoover and Phyllis (Houston) Sallee.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at All Saint's Parish St. Joseph Campus, 600 E. Virginia St., Evansville, IN 47711 with Father Steve Lintzenich celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 9:00 am until Mass time on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at the church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heart to Heart Hospice, Hamilton Pointe and Cypress Grove for the compassion and care that was shown to our Mom.
