Marilyn M. Hoffman passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at the Oak Crossing Care Facility in Detroit Lakes, MN. She was born on February 6, 1941, in Perham, Minnesota, to Herb and Helen (Schrupp) Bischoff. Throughout her 84 years, Marilyn always had a joyful spirit and a warm heart, qualities that would define her throughout her life.

Marilyn grew up on a farm overlooking Long Lake of Vergas. Her Grandmother lived on the next farm, and she would go back and forth between the two places. When her work was done for the day, she would go fishing or swimming at Grandma's. When the trail put in the floating dock, she loved looking up at her childhood home and savored the memories this spot brought. After graduating from Perham High School in 1959, Marilyn embarked on a journey into adulthood that led her to Fergus Falls, where she worked in an investment group.  She navigated both her career and her personal life with grace and determination. She would eventually return to Vergas, where she would be a life-long resident.  In her professional life, Marilyn was hired by Gordon Dahlgren at Vergas State Bank, where she stayed until the mid-70s. It was here she cultivated a committed work ethic and developed friendships that would last a lifetime, showcasing her ability to connect with others while serving her community.

On July 31, 1960, Marilyn married the love of her life, Ronald Hoffman, at St. John's Lutheran Church, later becoming a devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Loon Lake. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising a family that brought her immeasurable joy. She will be remembered lovingly by her husband, Ronald Hoffman; her daughter, Jill Hoffman; and her sisters-in-law, Donna Hoffman of Vergas and Francine Hoffman of Barnesville. Her legacy continues through many nieces, nephews, and their children, who will carry her spirit in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Helen Bischoff; brother, Dale and his wife Darlene; brothers-in-law, Rodney and John Hoffman; and her daughter, Kay Lynn Hoffman.

Marilyn's personality radiated warmth, and she had an innate ability to make those around her feel special. She loved to visit with family and friends, sharing stories and laughter that still resonate to this day. Her love for cardinals brought her particular happiness, symbolizing the joy and vitality she brought to everyone's lives. Marilyn was also passionate about cats, cardinals, gardening, hiking, and, in her younger years, dancing, reveling in the small pleasures of life. Known for her baking skills, she produced the most amazing bread and other delightful goodies, further filling her home with warmth and comfort.

Her final journey will be honored at St. Paul's Loon Lake Church in Vergas, Minnesota. Visitation will take place on September 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM until noon. The day will culminate in a burial at St Paul's Loon Lake at 12:00 PM, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her life and legacy.

Marilyn M. Hoffman will forever be remembered for her endless love and kindness. She leaves behind not just memories, but a legacy of compassion and strength that will inspire her family and friends for generations to come. In our hearts, she will always hold a special place, her spirit a guiding light in our lives.
