Marilyn Thompson Johnson was born on December 15, 1953 in Tampa, Florida to the late Margaret Juanita (Thomas) Thompson and Henry Charles Thompson. She passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2025 in Arlington, Texas at the age of 71.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, with a deep love for her family. Her greatest joy was caring for those she loved. Known for her vibrant personality, Marilyn was a true social butterfly who never met a stranger. She had an innate ability to make friends everywhere she went – a fellow shopper in line at the grocery store or someone at a neighboring slot-machine on her many visits to the casino. Her warmth and charm left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path. Marilyn also had a special love for the beach, relishing the sunshine and breeze; and she always enjoyed the magic of visiting theme parks. Her imagination was vibrant, and her grandchildren were charmed by her fairytale storytelling where she would weave enchanting stories about a magic ceiling, inviting them into a world of creativity, warmth, and love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ellis Rigsby.
She is survived by her husband of over 52 years, David Johnson of Arlington; son, Daniel Johnson and wife, Alice Windham of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Deena Wright and husband, Rob of Oswego, Illinois; and son, Donovan Johnson and wife, Louise of Woodstock, Illinois; cherished grandchildren, Ella, Raegan, Logan, Eric, Ethan, Grace, Norah, Caelum, Vera, and Marigold; siblings, Linda Thompson of Newport, Florida; Sherri Gentry of Jacksonville, Florida; and Brian Thompson and wife, Tori of Trenton, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Alpine Funeral Home located at 2300 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111.
