Barbara Joyce (Buckardt) Johnson, 87, of Leland passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. She was born on January 13, 1939, to her parents Art and Florence Buckardt of Leland. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ronnie Johnson. Her three children, Randy (Lou) Johnson, Brad Johnson, both of Leland, and Amy (Guy) Spayth of Wheaton. Also survived by her sister Darlene (Marty) Nelsen, grandchildren, Amanda (Tim) Hoyt, Megan (Jordan) Clark, Robert Spayth and Caroline Spayth. Great grandchildren Jason and Aubrey Hoyt, Landin, Hazel and Evelyn Clark. Her sister-in-law, Sandra Johnson and several nieces and nephews. And a world of special friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents Art and Florence Buckardt, her twin sister Beverly Delp and a half-brother, Glenn Jones. She graduated from the Coultrip country grade school and Leland High School in the class of '57. She attended Bethany Lutheran church in Leland and was very active there. She thoroughly enjoyed her many years in the choir there. She was very happy being able to raise her family on the farm where she was born and being a very busy housewife, making tons of her chocolate chip cookies, being the gopher on the farm along with feeding farmers most every day for the last fifty some years. Barb and her twin, Beverly, really enjoyed participating in the festivities at the annual twin's convention in Twinsburg, Ohio. They won many medals for being the most look alike twins in their age groups. She had been involved in many things in her community including Jr. Woman's Club, Luther League sponsor, election judge, etc. Memorials can be directed to Bethany Lutheran Church-Stained Glass renovation Project or to a charity of your wishes. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church in Leland, IL. with Pastor Hope Johnson officiating.
