Marilyn J. Krause, 81, of Oskaloosa, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the MHP Serenity Hospice House in Oskaloosa, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 14, 1943, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Darrel and Margaret (Slater) Morningstar. Marilyn attended Lisbon High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. She then furthered her education at the University of Northern Iowa, earning a B.A. Degree in Education. On August 14, 1965, she was united in marriage to Herb Krause in Lisbon, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Kimberly and Karla. They shared 56 years of marriage until Herb passed away on April 4, 2022.
Marilyn began her teaching career at Cedar Falls Elementary School until moving to the Mason City School District. In 1983, she started teaching in Oskaloosa Schools for 25 years until her retirement in 2008. After retiring, she stayed active taking care of her home and her family for many years. Marilyn was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville and Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed music, reading, doing crafts, cooking and making new recipes and food dishes. She also enjoyed sewing and made several items of clothing for her daughters.
She is survived by her two children, Kimberly Tuttle of Oskaloosa and Karla (John) Christian of Marion; her grandsons, Joshua and Jonah Christian and Dylan and Cody Tuttle; a sister, Janice (Jim) Steiert.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Krause and two aunts.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Pastor Joel Picard officiating. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Following the service, Marilyn's body will be cremated, and a burial will take place in Fenton, Iowa at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Bates Funeral Chapel with Marilyn's family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to MHP Serenity Hospice House.

I am so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful woman. She was a teacher of mine in junior high and I always was very fond of her. She was a great teacher! I was just recently thinking of her, so I am sad to hear of her passing.
