Marilyn Kurtz Obituary
Marilyn Ann Kurtz (Freiburger), 88 of Lagrange, Indiana, died on Wednesday June 26, 2024, at Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville, Indiana. Marilyn was born on November 21, 1935, to Raymond and Ilene Wise in Butler, Indiana. Both parents, her brother Delano Wise, her son Kevin J. Freiburger and her husband Terry preceded her in death.
Marilyn attended Kendallville High School and she married Terry Kurtz on July 22, 1970.
She worked at King Sealey in Kendallville and lived with Terry on Little Long Lake before moving to Plymouth, Indiana where she became a paralegal at a local law firm. Terry and Marilyn moved to Lagrange Indiana on Royer Lake where they lived with their golden retriever Teddy until they both moved to Lutheran Life Villages. Marilyn enjoyed shopping for and collecting antiques which she cherished.
She was a member of the Elks Country Club and Golf Course and was an avid golfer and participated in couples and women's golf leagues and tournaments. She loved music and loved to bake especially at Christmas time which she would make all of us Christmas cookies including all the grandkids even when they became adults these traditions are still being carried on by all of us kids. She and Terry enjoyed spending time with their close friends and would enjoy going out to dinner and on Fridays to the American Legion with them.
Terry, Marilyn and their dog Teddy would spend their winters at Dauphin Island on the coast, she loved walking the beach with her husband and Teddy these were some of her many cherished memories. As kids we would spend many summers on Lake Michigan outside of Mackinaw City at our cottage. She and Terry also loved staying on Mackinac Island at a B&B.
Surviving are sons, Bruce (Jackie) Freiburger of Kendallville, Bradley (Teresa) Freiburger Decatur, Indiana; 4 grandchildren, Nathan Freiburger, Nicole Freiburger, Matthew Freiburger and Brett Freiburger; 3 great grandchildren, Memphis Freiburger, Emmett Freiburger and Ottlie Freiburger; 3 stepchildren, Dana Scalzo Mongo, IN, Erin Taylor New York, NY and Dan Kurtz Omaha, Nebraska. Also, one sister, Mary Lou Garrison of Blue Eye, Missouri.
