Marilyn A. Lake

January 14, 1949 – September 12, 2025

Marilyn A. Lake, 76, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at her daughter's home in Ewing, New Jersey.

Born in Sharon, Pennsylvania, on January 14, 1949, Marilyn was raised in nearby Transfer. After completing her education, she began her career in Washington, D.C., where she worked for the FBI and met the love of her life, Robert C. Lake. Together, they built a wonderful life, moving to Ewing, New Jersey, where Marilyn and Bob both worked for the New Jersey State Police in West Trenton while raising their two children as very young parents.

Following her retirement, Marilyn and Bob relocated to Cape Coral, Florida, where she enjoyed the sunshine and the slower pace of life. The two were devoted to one another, and Bob's passing just four months ago was felt deeply by Marilyn and her family.

Marilyn was the daughter of Richard and Lillian Hoover Muffly. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Donald Muffly, her beloved son Robert C. Lake II, and her husband Robert C. Lake.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Diane Lake; her sisters Kathy Thompson, Vickie Eckles, Rita Hobough, and Betty Gadsby as well as many nieces and nephews. Marilyn will also be remembered by countless friends, extended family, and by many of her children's friends who affectionately called her "Mom Lake."

In her younger years, Marilyn loved tending her garden and filling her home with flowers-whether real or faux. She enjoyed vacations in Long Beach Island, New Jersey, and Las Vegas, and in recent years found joy in simply watching the palm trees and plants outside her window and observing the neighbors as they took their daily walks. She had a hatred for sports on TV, never missing the chance to remind her husband how much she despised watching "ball games," a lighthearted complaint that became a running joke in the family.

Marilyn and Bob were devoted parents who spent countless hours cheering on their children at many baseball, softball and soccer games, creating lasting memories that will always be cherished.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida, to the compassionate nurse and aide from Serenity Hospice in New Jersey her special friend Beth Larkin and to Diane's close friends who played such an important role in Marilyn's final days in New Jersey.

Marilyn will be remembered for her warmth, humor, distinct giggle, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on in all who knew her.
