Albany, NY-Marilyn Therese Leib Lynn, a good neighbor, social butterfly, lover of the hair salon,
maker of fantastic macaroni and cheese, long time poll worker, acapella singer of happy birthday, teller of stories, daughter, sister, wife, caregiver, friend, aunt, mom, and marmie, died on Friday, November 15. She celebrated her 94th birthday in September, at her Cropseyville homestead, with family near, and far.
Marilyn was born on September 28, 1930, in Erie, Pennsylvania to Marcella Kelley and Walter A. Leib.
Marcella passed away when Marilyn was three and a half. She and her brother, Gerald, were raised by their dad and his second wife, Betty. By Marilyn's own telling, she didn't give Betty the easiest time growing up. But on reflection, learned so much from her and wanted her to know that she was a heck of a grandmother.
Marilyn was a graduate of Mill Creek High School, in Erie, class of 1949. After graduation, Marilyn set out for Albany, New York, to live with relatives. She attended Albany Business College for a year and worked at the Times Union, where she met her future husband, Richard Lynn. Marilyn and Richard married in 1952. Richard brought three beautiful girls from his first marriage and together he and Marilyn had two more. They settled in Cropseyville, where Marilyn worked at Tamarac School, keeping a keen eye on the comings and goings of the girls and their friends. In later years, she became a visiting nurse, offering care to others, something that she was very proud of doing. Marilyn and Richard were married for 53 years, until his death in 2005. We are confident that they will find each other on the other side.
Marilyn loved her family and we loved her. She loved watching her kids (+ grands and greats and even great-greats!) swim in the pool and would happily cheer them on at whatever sport, job, or new life experience they were working through at the time. Marm could talk and talk and talk and talk. Her laugh was the best and is what we'll miss most.
Marilyn is predeceased by her beloved husband (Richard), her brother (Gerald), sister-in-law (Suzie), her two dear daughters, Patricia Cavallaro and Ruth Ferrone, and her son-in-law, John Cavallaro. She is survived by three amazing daughters, Nancy Lynn, Sheryl Centanni (Michael), and Melanie Adalian (Charles), who've done so much to help her through these last few years of life. Marm is also survived by her son-in-law, Larry Ferrone (Ruth), and many grandchildren: Bill Lynn, Sue (Jim) Cavallaro, Rich Cavallaro (Andrea Baird), Chip Adalian, Collin (Valentina) Adalian, Joey Ferrone, Scott (Katie) Ferrone, Patrick (Amanda) Ferrone, Sarah Centanni (Dan Myers), Karisa Centanni (Tim Rahn), Katie Centanni (Mike Linkous), and Michele Centanni; along with many awesome great/great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends (particularly from her time at Hearthstone Village) who she held close to her heart.
Marilyn's family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Daughters of Sarah, in Albany, for their kindness and care.
Marilyn cared about a lot of different people.
