Marilyn Louise Malleck, age 86, of McCook, NE passed away on December 29, 2024 at Community Hospital in McCook surrounded by family.

Marilyn was born November 4, 1938 in McCook to Harry and Margaret L. (O’Berg) Brown. She was one of four children born to this union.

Marilyn graduated from McCook High school in 1956. Following high school she attended McCook Community College. 

On July 26, 1958, Marilyn married Robert Paul Malleck in McCook. The couple made their home in McCook where they raised four children. Marilyn drove a school bus for Republican Valley Schools and for McCook Public Schools for over 30 years until her retirement in 2024. 

Marilyn coached softball for many years. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and took all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on a trip together each year.

Marilyn was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was an active Altar Society Member and in care of funeral dinners for many years. During that time she prepared and coordinated hundreds of dinners for families. Marilyn started the school lunch program for St. Patrick’s Catholic School.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Malleck; daughter, Kellie Mullen; infant son, Christopher; and one brother, Norris Brown.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Ray (Joyce) Malleck of Imperial, NE, Joan (Randy) Bass of Culbertson, NE, and Cheryl (Deon) Leitner of Plattsmouth, NE; two brothers, Harry (Jan) Brown of Omaha, NE and John Brown of McCook, NE. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, 10 step great great grandchildren and a son-in-law Jim Mullen.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, are suggested in Marilyn’s name to be designated at a later date. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook.

Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 5:00 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in McCook with Father Bernard Kimminau as Celebrant. 

Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, McCook.
