Marilyn was born on February 11, 1949, to Earl and Rita Mae (Kemp) Haack in Le Mars, Iowa.

Marilyn was employed at Hopkins Drugstore in Le Mars, Iowa, prior to choosing to become a stay-at-home mother. Once her children began attending school, she pursued a career in early childhood education, teaching at Jack and Jill Nursery School and Building Futures, where in 1998, she was recognized as the Ron Ryan Employee of the Year. Following a personal health journey, she transitioned from working with children to adults by serving as a respected Weight Watchers facilitator throughout the Siouxland region. In 2010, Marilyn retired, embracing her role as Nana. Marilyn was active in her church and enjoyed bowling and golf.

Marilyn is survived by Tami (Aaron) Proskovec of Sioux City, Andy and Susan McGranahan of Spring, Texas, and her grandchildren Kate and Scott Proskovec, and Ellie, Hazel, and Miles McGranahan.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Rita Haack; her husband, Tom McGranahan; and her beloved dog, Max.

We extend our sincere appreciation to our family, friends, and the Sunrise staff. Your support and compassion throughout our time with mom will always be remembered.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to United Way of Siouxland (701 Steuben St, Sioux City, IA 51101) for the Imagination Library (https://unitedwaysiouxland.com/Donate). Marilyn was known for buying and reading countless books for her kids and grandchildren.
