Marilyn C. (Henkel) Rega, 77, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at her home with family by her side after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Rega. Born in Providence, RI, on November 6, 1948, she was the daughter of the late William Henkel and Madeline (Dion) Gorton.

Marilyn was a proud and dedicated career woman who focused her life around her work. She was a skilled bookkeeper and spent several decades with Walmart, where she kept things running smoothly and earned the respect of those she worked with.

A voracious reader, Marilyn's home was filled wall-to-wall with romance novels, each one a quiet source of joy and escape. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing dominoes-especially with her brother, David-and spending time with friends over card games and board games. Independent by nature and somewhat private, Marilyn nonetheless deeply embraced her role as an aunt and later as a great-aunt, cherishing the chance to be part of her family's lives.

She was proud of her cherished doll collection and found comfort and companionship in the peaceful moments spent with her beloved cat, Shadow.

Marilyn was the sister of David Gorton of Warwick, the late Thomas Gorton and the late William "Bill" Henkel. She was also the proud aunt of: Charlene Blake, Christie Sorenson, Kaitlin Gorton, Jase Gorton, Shane Gorton, Amanda "River Lee" Gorton and Samantha Gorton.

No services will take place at this time. Please consider making a donation in Marilyn's memory to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org to help others facing the illness she so bravely fought.
