Marilyn Wolf Schwartz, 101, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family in Sarasota on November 23, 2025. Marilyn (Lynn) was born May 28, 1924, in New York City, the elder child of George J. Wolf and his wife Anna Siegler Wolf. The family suffered huge losses during the Depression, and Lynn's father died while she was in high school. Her mother then took the unconventional step to run the insurance and real estate business that her husband had left behind. Lynn learned, as many of the Greatest Generation did, to "put on a happy face and not waste time complaining." That ability to be pleasant, helpful, and outgoing no matter the circumstances was key to Lynn's success in life: she loved to laugh and have fun; she enjoyed people and entertaining. She was known for her positive attitude, elegance, and superb taste.

Lynn entered Mount Holyoke College at 16 and graduated in 1944. Soon after, she met and married B. Robert (Bob) Schwartz, and they had a son, George, and daughter, Barbara. The family was raised in Millburn, NJ. While Barbara and George were in school, Lynn earned her Master of Social Work from Rutgers. With her degree, she went to work in the local school system, placing hearing-challenged students in special programs. Once their children moved out of the house, Lynn and Bob relocated to Maplewood, NJ and spent wonderful winters in Florida and idyllic summers back in New Jersey, nearer to their family. Later, at her husband's urging, Lynn worked for several years at Bob's chemical company, which was sold in the early 1980s. After, they purchased a beautiful condominium on Longboat Key.

The couple enjoyed friends and family, golf, bridge, travel, and 63 years of marriage. In her early 90s, Lynn sold the New Jersey residence and her gorgeous Longboat Key apartment and moved to Plymouth Harbor, a senior-living residence in Sarasota.

Lynn was predeceased by her husband as well as her brother Robert Wolf. She is survived by son George and his wife, Paula Maier, daughter Barbara and her husband, Jerry Flum, grandchildren Michael and Darcy Flum, Andrew Schwartz and Kala Seidenberg, and David Schwartz, as well as great grandchildren Robbie and Juliette Flum. She is also survived by many loving extended family members, cousins, friends, and her dedicated caregivers.

A private graveside service will be held under the direction of Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, Spotswood, NJ.

Contributions in memory of Lynn may be made to the American Jewish Committee or All Faiths Food Bank Sarasota.
