Marilyn Houghton Seal, affectionately known as "Ma Seal," passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025, at the age of 89. Born May 26, 1936, in Evanston, Illinois, Marilyn lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to her family and community.

A graduate of Druid Hills High School in Georgia, Marilyn's musical talents earned her a scholarship to the University of Georgia, where she played the French horn. Her time at the university was marked by academic achievement and personal growth, laying the foundation for a life characterized by both intellectual curiosity and deep compassion.

Following her education, Marilyn embarked on a journey that would see her moving up and down the East Coast, raising six wonderful children. Her professional career was marked by her role as an office manager for Quible & Associates, where she dedicated twenty years of service.

After retiring, Marilyn immersed herself in her passions, becoming the education coordinator for N.E.S.T. Her dedication to saving sea turtles inspired many, as she shared her knowledge and enthusiasm with local schools. Her love for nature extended to plants and flowers, leading her to be an active member of the Dare County Garden Club.

A long-time resident of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Marilyn's warmth, and generosity touched all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Carlos Houghton, and Helen Hobbs Houghton, as well as her brothers, Bill Chrimes and John Chrimes.

She is survived by her six children: daughters Vivian G. Seal, Sylvia E. Seal (Tommy Gorman), and Cindy G. Seal (Mardy Ross); sons R. Bennie Seal, Jr., J. Forrest Seal (Rebecca), and M. Keith Seal (Chris). Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, James, Leanna, Taylor, Jordyn, Dylan, Nicole, Ryan and great-grandchildren, Clara, Naomi, Veyla, Mars, Cambria, and Timothy.

The family welcomes friends and loved ones to celebrate Marilyn's life on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Jennette's Pier, 7223 S. Virginia Dare Trail, Nags Head, NC 27959.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the N.E.S.T. Organization at www.nestobx.org in honor of Marilyn's memory.

Marilyn's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched, as her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for nature continues to inspire future generations.
