Marilyn Ann Winans

Marilyn Ann Winans, (Hugel) a kind and caring soul, passed away on October 10, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. She was born on April 16, 1934, in Queens, New York to Charles and Audrey Hugel.  Marilyn's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and friends, making a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marilyn's parents, proceeded her in death and she is survived by her sisters Audrey Heaphy and June Brandt. Her parents provided her with a nurturing upbringing that instilled in her the values of kindness and empathy. These values remained at the core of Marilyn's character throughout her life.

 

During Marilyn’s journey through life she was  involved in many organizations.  Her Lutheran faith was very important to her.  She was involved with nursery school, day camp, Folk service and WELCA at Ascension Lutheran Church.  Other earlier endeavors include playing the guitar, piano and giving lessons on both.  She was a girl scout leader and taught preschool at White Swan. Later in life she was she was involved with the Women of the Moose, the senior center at St. Cyril’s church and the American Legion.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband John Winans who stood by her side throughout their journey together. Together they shared countless joyful memories with family,  friends, and traveling.

In addition to John, Marilyn leaves behind four devoted children: Janice Mulieri Smith, husband Edsel, Joanne Mulieri Maltese, husband Vincent, Lynn Mulieri, and James Mulieri, partner David. Each child holds precious memories of their mother close to their hearts.

Marilyn's grandchildren hold a special place in her heart. She adored each one of them and found immense joy in spending time with them. Her grandchildren include Justin Smith, wife Marsha, Cassandra Smith, Joshua Holly, wife Shelly, Jaclynn Das, husband David, and Zachary Gross. Marilyn was also blessed to have great-grandchildren, Clara Smith, Jayden Holly, Brogan Holly, Remy Das, Rome Das, and Z.J. Gross.

 

Marilyn also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful friends .

Throughout her life Marilyn touched the lives of many with her warm heart and nurturing spirit. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to resonate within the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marilyn Ann Winans will be deeply missed but forever cherished. May her soul find eternal peace as her memory lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.

 

On October 15, 2023, friends and loved ones will gather to remember Marilyn at the Deer Park - Mangano Family Funeral Home located at 1701 Deer Park Ave in Deer Park, NY. Visitation hours will take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and again from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. During these solemn moments, memories of Marilyn's life will be shared and cherished.

The following day, October 16th, a Service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church situated at 33 Bay Shore Rd. Deer Park, NY 11729. The service will commence at 11:00 AM as we bid farewell to our beloved Marilyn.
