Marilynn A. Hintzke, age 86, of Rochester Hills, entered eternal life unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at her home. Known for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and sweet, direct nature, Marilynn lived life fully and touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on January 25, 1938, in Detroit, Marilynn was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Dembowski) Walsh. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Hintzke, who passed on December 5, 2004, and by her sister, Arlene Stewart. Marilynn and Bob shared a deep love of travel, exploring the United States and beyond in their motorhome, including memorable trips to Europe, Hawaii, and even an African safari. Together, they especially treasured time spent in the American Southwest and along the water in Algonac before relocating to Rochester Hills to be near medical care for Bob.
A dedicated reader, Marilynn had a passion for books and frequently shared recommendations, believing that reading helped her stay mentally sharp. Her artistic spirit shone through in all she did, and she took immense joy in gardening, and was thought of as an "uncertified" Master Gardener. Marilynn also enjoyed socializing and staying active with her friends at the OPC in Rochester.
She is survived by her children, Robert Hintzke, Laurey (David) Konjarevich, and Gregory (Jenalyn) Hintzke; her cherished grandchildren, Noelle Hintzke, and Jace and Drew Astorga; and her brother, Russell (Cindy) Walsh. Marilynn's warmth, friendship, and enduring smile will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she graced.
Marilynn's funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning, November 5, at 10:00 am (in state at 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23615 Power Rd., Farmington.
Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes are kindly suggested to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation or the Father Solanus Guild, Detroit.
