Mario E. Carmona, a devoted father and husband, avid fisherman and follower of Christ, passed away on June 16, 2024 — 67 years to the day he was born.

Mario is survived by his beloved high school sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Patricia Marie; his two sons, Jonathan Ray (Aimee) and Clinton James; his grandchildren, Aidan Ray and Camila Brielle; brothers Joseph, Michael (Gracie) and John; and several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel Carmona, and his mother, Rufina “Eva” Ducré, along with his stepfather, Paul Ducré.

Mario had many talents and hobbies — no one sang George Strait at karaoke with more conviction — and he was a great shortstop for his men’s softball league team.

But above all, he was the kind of dad who taught his sons how to play golf and baseball and never missed a single game.

He taught his sons all of the most important things in life: Baseball, country music, fishing, a love of the outdoors and how to be good men.

Like any good Texan, Mario was a Cowboys devotee. He was master of the grill who made a mean BBQ.

Mario never met a stranger who didn’t become a friend. He made time in his busy life to lend an ear and a hand to his many friends, many whom he knew most of his life.

Strangers benefited from his giving spirit, too — Mario loved to donate fishing and baseball equipment to kids, hoping to spark a passion in two of his favorite sports. He also coached Little League baseball for over 20 years.

Mario worked extremely hard for over 30 years as an account executive for Spectrum Technologies before retiring in 2022. He spent the last decade valiantly battling cancer, and his spirit never faltered.

When he wasn’t working or being a great dad, Mario loved to dance with his wife, whom he met when they were both 14 years old. Their love story is one for the ages.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Cancer Society.
