Mario O. Clemente, 92, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Paoli Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Theresa A. Pucciarelli Clemente, with whom he shared 66 years of devoted marriage.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Mario was the son of the late Domenic Clemente and Laura Patane Clemente.
Mario lived a remarkable life, dedicated to service, learning, and adventure. He proudly served as a naval aircraft mechanic aboard the USS Intrepid during his time in the U.S. Navy, a role he embraced with skill and dedication. In later years, his love for the Intrepid endured as he volunteered at the Intrepid Museum in New York City, sharing his experiences and knowledge with visitors.
After his military service, Mario joined the New York City Police Department, where he served as a member of Motorcycle 2. Graduating #1 in his class from the Police Academy, he distinguished himself as an officer of integrity and commitment.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mario earned an Associate's degree from the City College of New York, continually seeking to expand his knowledge. He combined his technical skills and passion for teaching as a volunteer at the Jewish Community Center, where he helped seniors master Windows computer programs. He even wrote two comprehensive manuals on Excel, leaving a legacy of knowledge for future learners.
Mario was a man of many talents and hobbies. An avid golfer, he found joy and camaraderie on the greens. He and his wife, Theresa, were dedicated square dancers for over 20 years, during which Mario served as an officer of the Richmond County Square Dance organization. His love for dancing extended to ballroom dancing, where he excelled for over 40 years, and even became an examiner.
Mario's life was defined by his devotion to family, community, and personal growth. In addition to his wife, Theresa, he is survived by his loving daughter, Laura Clemente Mackey; two granddaughters, Katherine Funk and Emily Funk-Reynolds; and his cherished great-granddaughter, Madison Reynolds. He was predeceased by his six siblings: Vincenza LaSenna, Joseph Clemente, Carmella Anzalone, Josephine Comito, Anthony Clemente, and Domenic Clemente.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at St. Peter Church, 2835 Manor Road, Coatesville. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be held privately with the family.
Mario's legacy of love, faith, and dedication to his family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest.
