Mr. M. Joseph "Joe" Polce, 81, of Walkersville passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. He was the loving husband of Wilma Polce for 60 years.

Born March 19, 1944 in Morgantown, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Pietro and Elsie Polce.

Joe worked for 31 years for Frederick County Public Schools. After he retired he served on the Insurance Council representing retired FCPS employees for 20 years.

He was deeply involved in his community and dedicated many years to the Glade Valley Athletic Association (GVAA), where he coached numerous teams and positively impacted the lives of many young athletes. He also proudly served on the athletic boosters for Walkersville High School, working to improve the athletic experience for student-athletes.. A faithful member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, he was also active with the Woodsboro American Legion and a longtime member of Glade Valley Golf Course. He loved playing golf, hunting, and fishing, and could often be found working on home improvement projects. Nothing brought him greater joy than attending his grandchildren's many activities and spending time surrounded by the family he loved so much.

In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his son Joseph Polce and wife Chrissy, daughter Katie Barkdoll and husband Brian, grandsons Jake Polce and wife Jordan, Josh Polce, Jamison Barkdoll and Ryan Barkdoll. Great grandchildren, Grayson Belle Polce and Baker Joseph Polce. His sister Libby Hastings and husband Kent, sister-in law, Betsy Polce, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his brother Fred Polce and sister in law Mary Kay Gwynne.

A celebration of life will be held on March 21st from 1-4 pm at Rockwell Brewery Riverside, Rapture room. Family and friends are invited to come and go as they wish during this time of remembrance.
