Ragone, Mario "Butch"
TROY - Mario "Butch" Ragone, 80, died Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his residence, after a long battle with dementia and a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Albany, he was son of the late Anthony Ragone and Alice Jones Ragone; and husband for 58 years of Joan McCann Ragone. He was raised in Albany, and had resided in Troy since 1966.
Mario was a hair stylist and master barber and owner and operator of Mario's Shear Magic in Albany for 25 years, retiring in 1995.
He was a proud Navy veteran, serving from 1960-64, and a member of the North Albany Legion Post, was an avid gardener, and he loved to fish and golf.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Kerry (Michael) Hennessey, Latham; a son, Todd Ragone, Troy; six grandchildren, Lindsey and Courtney Manning and Cody, Michael, Mario, and Reese Ragone; two great-grandchildren, Xavier and Aria Manning; his siblings, Fran (Bill) Holligan, Mary Lynn (Bob) Visneau and Joseph (Shari) Ragone; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Ragone; and four siblings, Anthony Ragone, Robert Ragone, Patricia Zimmerman and Larry Ragone.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., at 276 Pawling Ave., Troy, on Wednesday, October 9, from 4-7 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, at 11 a.m., at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Ave., Troy, with Rev. Edward Kacerguis, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Mario Ragone to the Community Hospice, 310 South Manning Blvd., Albany, N.Y. 12208, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. Deb and I send our sincere Condolences to you Joan and Todd. We just saw that he passed. So sorry we weren´t able to pay our respects. He was my birthday buddy and there was never a bad day at the Assembly as long as Mario was there. Be well.
