TOCCI, Mario H. Of Belmont, MA, passed away peacefully, in his home, at age 90, surrounded by his loving family, on February 21, 2026. Mario was the beloved husband of the late Frances E. (Ferraro) Tocci with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Mario was born on November 2, 1935, the son of Antonio Tocci and Maria Carmela (Tempesta) Tocci, both of San Donato Val di Comino, Italy. He was born and raised in Brighton, MA and attended Boston Technical High School and Northeastern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He joined the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, Bureau of Public Roads, in 1958 and worked as a highway engineer in Washington, D.C. Virginia, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. Mario was a Registered Professional Civil Engineer and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Above all else, Mario loved family, and put his family first. He was the oldest of thirteen children and he particularly enjoyed family gatherings on weekends and holidays. He and wife, Fran, had the opportunity to travel together, visiting his family in San Donato, Toronto, Chicago and Newcastle, Australia, and Fran's family in her ancestral home of Andali, Calabria. Mario is survived by his daughters, Donna of Belmont, Laura McNamara and her husband, John of Belmont; sons, John of Dedham and Joseph and his wife, Meredith of Waltham. Mario is survived by seven grandsons and two granddaughters, Michael McNamara of Belmont, Joseph McNamara and his wife, Patrice of Stoneham, John McNamara and wife, Carrie of Beverly, James McNamara of Stoneham, Casey, Jack and Kathleen Tocci of Dedham and Vincent and Dominick Tocci of Woodstock, Connecticut. Mario is survived by four great-grandchildren, Sarah, Isabelle, Isaac and Violet McNamara. Mario is also survived by his sisters, Mary Regan of Brighton, Catherine Tocci of Brookline, Linda Cole (husband, Lynn) of Brighton, Dolores Rufo (husband, Mario) of Newton and Theresa Cameron of Dedham; his brother, Lawrence (wife, Gail) of Franklin; and dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends too numerous to mention. Mario was predeceased by his brothers, Anthony and Joseph Tocci; and his sisters, Lucia Warde, Patricia Logan and Laura Carrol; and Tony's wife, Delores; and former wife, Trudy Tocci; Patricia's husband, Terrence Logan; and Teresa's husband, Sandy Cameron. Visiting Hours are 4 p.m.–7 p.m., on Friday, February 27, at the DeVito Funeral Home, 761 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at Sacred Heart Church, 770 Mt. Auburn Street, Watertown, MA, at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, February 28. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mario's memory to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472 would be greatly appreciated.
