Marion Albiston Obituary

Marion H. Albiston

1930 ~ 2025

Bountiful, UT - Husband, family man, friend, and servant to the Lord.

Marion Albiston, 95, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and servant of the Lord passed away peacefully at home on September 28, 2025 surrounded by family.

Marion was born September 20, 1930 in Preston, Idaho. Marion developed a lifelong love of music, playing trombone in high school marching and dance bands and being asked to perform with the Utah Symphony for 43 years. During the Korean conflict, he served honorably in the U.S. Military, avoiding combat by bringing joy through music as part of the marching and dance bands.

Marion married Carolyn Eames in 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with five children, Gregory Albiston, now deceased, Scott Albiston (Judi), Deborah Wilsen, now deceased, David Albiston (Heidi) now deceased and Stephen Albiston (Carol).

Carolyn passed away in 1981, after her passing he married Henny to whom he was also sealed to in the Temple. Of course this meant he inherited four more children, Michael (Marilyn) Van Weerd, Gary Van Weerd, now deceased, Sylvia (John) Fountain and Timothy Van Weerd. At the time of this writing he had 50 grandchildren and spouses, 39 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Marion was a man dedicated to the service of his God and Savior, serving in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints most of which had to do with music. His quiet testimony of the Lord, his kindness, and love touched all who knew him. Marion was loved by his family and friends. Though it may sound simple, he truly was a "good man" in every sense of the word. He will be missed by many, especially by his sweetheart Henny. She, along with those who knew and loved him, look forward to the time when we will all see him again in the next life. Rest peacefully dear Marion.

The Albiston family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Symbii, especially Lilia and Elenia for their kindness, care and support they gave to Marion and his family.

Marion was my trombone teacher when I was in high school. We would do the lessons at the Pearce Music store after his symphony rehearsal. After the lesson, we would often go across the street to a bowling alley and get a soda and just talk. He was a great influence in my musical life. I am 83 and have been playing trombone for 73 of those years and I still play in two different groups as well as freelance. I credit the skills I have developed to the lessons I learned from him. I consider myself part of his legacy. Thank you Marion.
