Denise Angus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Warenski Funeral Home on Feb. 20, 2026.
Denise Bishop Angus

1962 ~ 2026

Our dear cheerleader, friend to all and rescuer Denise Bishop Angus passed away peacefully at home, with her family surrounding her on the morning of February 18, 2026, after a difficult two-year battle with triple negative breast cancer.

Denise is an Elect lady. She loved lighthouses and she carried a light with her wherever she went. Denise devoted her life to those around her. She had the ability to love and lift other people and blessed their lives in significant ways. Denise was loved by all who knew her.

Denise leaves behind a devoted family: Doug, her sweetheart of 44 years; her children Danny (Cinthia), Andrew (Michelle), William (Ashley) and Melissa Vogelsberg (Jared); 11 grandchildren Braxton, Raegan, Maylee, Kacey, Rose, Oakley, Bennett, Jay, Ari, Charles, and Clifton; her mother Jennifer Rushforth Peterson and her father Orion Bishop and step-mother Sue; adoring sisters and brother; in laws; cousins; and dear friends. She will be deeply, deeply missed.

Denise Angus was born on August 4, 1962 to Orion Bennett Bishop and Jennifer Rushforth Peterson at Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, Utah. She graduated from East High School in 1980. She attended the University of Utah. She worked as the computer lab instructor for Muir Elementary school for nine years. Denise concluded her bachelor's degree in Technology Education in 2007, graduating from the Utah State University School of Engineering.

Denise lived in Salt Lake City, Bountiful, and American Fork, Utah. Her family was her greatest joy. She spent her life making their lives wonderful. Together with her husband, she taught her children, then grand children to ski. She was a ski instructor at Snowbird for three years. She loved spending time in outdoor activities with family and friends. She especially loved teaching her family the gospel and sharing her testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ. She followed the admonition to "teach the gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words".

Denise deeply valued her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served many years in the young women organization. She was gifted in her love for and service to youth and children. She loved singing in ward choirs. She also served as Activities Director and Gospel Doctrine teacher during her battle with cancer. She actively supported Doug during his service in Ward and Stake callings. She served eleven years in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. This Temple service brought her much joy and she devotedly served in the sealing office of the Temple for the last three years of her life helping to unite couples and families for eternity.

Denise and Doug enjoyed visiting LDS Church History Sites. They loved traveling, working, laughing and just "being together". They were best friend spouses.

Oh dear Denise ... the world lost such an angel!!! Always a woman to go that extra 10 miles, always had an open heart and open arms that would only close to embrace someone and help carry any burden she could assist with . Doug and family I am so sorry you lost your eternal companion and dearest mom way too early. May our Heavenly Father bring you all such comfort and peace. I haven´t seen Denise for probably 15 years but she sure made an impact when we all lived in the 30th Ward there in Bountiful and for many years after that. God bless you all. Judy Tanner Fitzgerald

From hanging out at the Angus home as a youth, to treks, firesides, and church on Sundays, I can´t remember a time when Denise wasn´t smiling. She had a gift for bringing warmth wherever she was.

After I lost my own mother, Denise took a real interest in my life and showed such kindness and love to my wife and children. I will always be grateful for that.

She truly lived as someone who enjoyed the journey - always seeing the silver lining, always optimistic, always smiling. We love you! A few pictures of denise from my youth years!

I have such fond memories of Denise, Doug and the kids as neighbors and friends. I hope you are blessed with peace and comfort to carry you through this heartbreaking time. Denise was truly one of a kind. I'll never forget her beautiful smile, fun personality and how great she could whistle. She blessed all who had the good fortune to know her. Love to you all, Lori MacKay.

I went to high school with Denise and remember her being a fun loving friend. She always had a smile on her face and kind words for you to hear. She had a lot of energy and was such a cute cheerleader for our class of 1980. I am sure she will be missed greatly by loved ones and friends. Love you Denise. Elaine Hoole Quinn
