With hearts full of sorrow, we announce the passing of Rowena Rebecca Gandy Shipley on February 27, 2026, at the age of 83. Rowena was born on January 30, 1943, to Joseph Albert "Joe" Gandy and Hallie Helen Hall Gandy Keeling in Mena, AR.
Rowena married her high school sweetheart, Richard Muffett in 1961. They had two children, Ken and Lance, who she always fiercely supported and loved. Her life's path later included marrying Roy Williamson in 1968, the adoptive father of Ken and Lance, who sadly passed away before her. In 1984, she found joy again when she married Carl Shipley, who has also passed.
Rowena had deep love for her dogs, whom she cherished as family. She found peace in her garden (producing really good tomatoes), and her daily readings of the Bible grounded her in faith and gratitude. Rowena was a dedicated realtor, helping many find homes and navigate the real estate market.
Rowena was a radiant presence in the lives of her family, and her greatest joys came from spending time with them-especially her beloved grandsons, Stuart, Chris and Ryan. She is survived by her sons, Ken (Jennifer) Williamson and Lance (Bonnie) Williamson; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her brother, Duane Gandy. She now rejoins her parents and her cherished sister, Diane Hill, in eternal rest.
A celebration of Rowena's life will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Anderson &Sons Mortuary, located at 49 East 100 North, American Fork. Join us as we celebrate her life and honor the vibrant spirit of Rowena. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Mena, Arkansas--a place close to her heart.
In love and remembrance, we carry Rowena's light with us, today and always.
