Marion Conboy Dunleavy, 95, passed away after a brief illness at GCMC surrounded by family. When her husband, Joseph, passed in 2007 they had been married 59 years.

Born on June 11, 1928 in Scranton, she was the daughter of Charles and Josephine Savage Conboy. She was an Honor Society graduate of Central High School, class of 1946. After retiring from Mercy Hospital where she spent most of her working career, she volunteered at the Lackawanna Historical Society, giving Scranton walking tours, ushering at the Theater at Lackawanna College and the Scranton Cultural Center and she was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Retired Senior Volunteer Corps.

Anyone who truly knew Marion appreciated her humor. Her wit was unmatched. She was very smart with a thirst for knowledge. As she aged, she was happy if she had a book and an occasional visitor. She was loved deeply and will be missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to: Alex and Ashley, GCMC ER nurses, who provided exceptional compassionate care in mom's final hours, the third floor staff of the Assisted Living building at St. Mary's Villa Residence, Hospice of the Sacred Heart staff and Dr. Maryann McDonald. The respect and compassion they showed for our mother was very much appreciated.

Also surviving are a son, Joseph (Joedy), Jersey Shore, Pa.; three daughters, Kathryn (Kathy) Osborn and husband Neal, Milpitas, Calif., Patricia (Patty) Dunleavy and husband Jerry Bachman, Scranton, Virginia (Ginny) Kreusling and partner, Al Kwiatkowski, Scranton; grandchildren, Erin Dunleavy, Jersey Shore, Jennifer (Kreusling) Miller, Scranton, Vanessa (Kreusling) Pettus, Scranton, Elizabeth Osborn, Milpitas, Calif. and Danny Osborn, Columbus, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Paul, Caylee, Oliver, Chloe, Sullivan, Alaina, Juniper and August; and a brother, Arthur, Phoenix, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Richard.

The funeral will be Friday, Dec. 29, 2023 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., followed by interment of ashes at Cathedral Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the Mass begins. Arrangements, Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave.
