Marion Lawrence Gary always looked forward to the day that he would meet his Lord and Savior. Although he really wanted to go in the rapture, the Lord personally called him home on December 24, 2021.
Marion was a man of faith. Not only did he have an unwavering love for the Lord, he had a conviction in his heart that everyone should know and love Jesus. He was a preacher at heart and would share his faith with anyone who would listen, and often even those who wouldn't. For over 20 years, Marion served monthly at the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake, taught adult Sunday school, and ministered to married couples with his wife Sondra, teaching biblical principles on marriage.
Marion loved his family with his whole heart and selflessly offered his time, devotion, and services to them. There was never an occasion that Marion would not help out when his family was in need. He also loved his animals and was the happiest of fur-dads.
Marion was a man of many passions and interests. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved all things hunting, fishing, boating and target practicing.
He was also an accomplished handyman. He could construct, paint, and fix anything and always looked for inventive ways to make things work.
Marion loved all things aviation. This drove him to get his private pilot's license and was the reason he worked as an aircraft mechanic for the later part of his career. He was a volunteer actor, and you would find him pursuing his passion in dinner theater, Master Mender, and various other church productions.
With Marion there was no shortage on talent. He was a great cook, had a green thumb, was an entertaining comedian, and a wonderful teacher who loved nothing more than passing down his knowledge of his many skill sets.
Marion was born in Kansas, January 19, 1958. Though he lived in many places throughout his life he eventually settled down in Salt Lake City.
He is survived by the love of his life Sondra Gary; his two daughters Ginger (Dusty) Schumacher and Crystal (Brandon) Payne; his seven grandchildren Deanna, Aubree (Kris), Thomas (Korine), Cera (Chase), Katelynn (Cody), Pablo and Mack; one great-grandchild; and his three brothers.
Marion always said he would not take one more breath than God gave him. Although we are all left with holes and sadness in our hearts, we know that he is having the celebration of his life, and we live grateful for all the memories we have with him.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, January 12, 2022, 12:00 noon, at Calvary Chapel, 460 Century Drive, Murray, Utah 84123, where a viewing will be held prior to services from 10-11:45 a.m. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens.

When I was a baby Christian, I met Marion at the Salt Lake Christian center and we hit it off well. Marion was a special friend. My friends have come and went over the years but his friendship will endure. I will never forget my brother in Christ and his family. The friendships I made while in Salt Lake are some of the best I have ever had. Sondra, just know I am praying for you and your family during this hard time. Love you guys.

I was sad to hear that Marion had passed away, but encouraged to know he is with Jesus and we will see him again. Marion was a wonderful, talented man who loved Jesus. He took my husband, Bogie, under his wing at a Promise Keepers conference years ago. That conference changed Bogie's life and gave him a love for prayer and the desire to be the spiritual head of our household. I have only fond memories of Marion. I am praying for comfort for Sondra and the family during this sad season.

Sending prayers to your family. I didn´t know Marion personally but I fly for Skywest and know that he has kept me safe by taking care of our airplanes. I am thankful for his hard work and care. May he Rest In Peace.
