Age 90. Born into eternal life in Muskego, Wisconsin on October 31, 2023.
Marion was born on September 16, 1933 to her parents Oliver Bakken and Martha Josephine West, in Clarkfield, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota. She graduated from Granada High School in Minnesota and then went on to work as a secretary and telephone operator prior to starting a family.
Marion and Ronald Dean Howard were married on July 3, 1959. Together they raised 5 children and enjoyed 64 years of loving marriage.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Darlene (Robert) Finch, Evangeline "Toby" (Lester) Faber, Margaret "Marge" (Gordy) Walters, Phyllis (Glenn) Meyer, Wesley "Wes" Bakken, and David Peter Bakken.
Marion is survived by her spouse Ronald Howard and sister: Nanette "Susie" (Gary) Kable, as well as her children: Rhonda Brown of De Pere, WI, Doug (Cindy) Howard of Muskego, WI, Tom (Marcie) Howard of St Germaine, WI, Shanda (Mike) Cherney of Muskego, WI, Dean Howard of Delores, CO
Grandchildren: Lynn Brown Bastian, Dan Brown, Melissa Quirke Griffin, Rick (Allana) Quirke, Beth Cherney, Nicole Cherney, Zack Cherney, Sophie Howard, Emily Howard, Alyssa (Miles Winter) Kersey, Dan Kersey, and eleven great grandchildren.
Hobbies/Interests: In her younger years, Marion enjoyed knitting and cross stitching, playing cards (canasta), and daytime "soaps". In retirement, she and Ron would travel extensively in their RVs, exploring state parks, and often wintering in the south. Later, Marion enthusiastically took to the internet, embraced email and social networking to keep in touch with extended family and friends.
Her greatest interest was in monitoring the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She derived endless joy from her grandchildren's energy and affection.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to Tudor Oaks Retirement Community staff, as well as Moments Hospice Care for their sincere efforts.
A visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community Church, 9520 W. Forest Home Ave., Hales Corners, WI on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. Funeral Mass 11:00 am. Inurnment to follow: Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
