Marion Izer Obituary
Marion Burnell Izer was born on December 25, 1931 to Paul and Elizabeth (Tjarks) Izer in Alden, Iowa. Marion attended Alden Community Schools. In 1953-1955 he honorably served in the United States Army.
Marion was a lifelong farmer for eighty plus years and a member of the Alden United Methodist Church.
On February 12, 1956 Marion was united in marriage to Shirley Williams at the United Methodist Church in Williams, Iowa.
Marion enjoyed gardening and being active in church and committees. He worked with Surls Funeral Home for many years as well as the Elks Lodge, preparing meals with Shirley. The highlight of his summer was selling sweet corn to the locals out of his purple pickup in the yard.
Marion Izer is survived by his daughter, Shellane Nicknam of Pacific Grove, California; son, Marty Izer of Alden, Iowa; grandchildren, Elizabeth Nicknam of Pacific Grove, California, Casey Izer of Iowa Falls, Iowa and Lana Izer of Alden, Iowa; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and sisters, Janice Vierkandt and Marlys McElvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Izer; wife, Shirley Izer; daughter, Rochelle; son, Lynn and brothers, Merle and Lyle Izer.

So sorry to hear of Marion's death. He & Shirley were great neighbors. We would visit many times and he had the best sweetcorn in town. We will miss seeing that little purple pick-up across the street. RIP Marion!
