Marion Owen Obituary
Obituary Marion Owen
Marion Owen went home to be with the Lord on December 30, 2025.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years Lucy of Breeding Ky, his daughter Michele of Charlotte, and son Jonathan (Marissa) of Columbia Ky. He is also survived by his grandchildren Caity and Ian, and Abby and Alana as well as his brother Mack (Gladys), Ted (Diane), Helen (Paul), Nancy (Mitchell), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents Obed and Faye Owen, brothers Robert Owen and William Owen.
Marion was born in 1937 in Balsam Grove NC. He was a lifelong member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church and is well known throughout the community for his musical talents. He played piano at Shoal Creek for many years. Marion was a farmer, ivy breaker, fish farmer, security officer, throughout his life he tried a little bit of everything. He was a smart man and liked to ponder a problem and get it figured out; he could do just about anything he set his mind to. In later years he and his wife Lucy worked at the casino in Cherokee where he won many awards for his hard work. He retired and bought a farm in Kentucky and made several good friends along the way. He attended Sparksville Baptist Church in Ky where he played the piano. Marion was wise in so many ways and shared his experiences with those that he loved to make their lives a little easier. He was personable, curious, and always ready to have a good conversation. Marion loved to fish and get out on his boat, he loved to travel with his wife and go somewhere warm in the winter. If he was home, there was a high likelihood he was sitting in the sunshine enjoying his coffee with Lucy. He traveled all over the world fearlessly and had many adventures. He was a faithful friend to those lucky enough to know him. He was empathetic and loved people, when someone hurt, he felt deeply for them. He was a wonderful Daddy and a sweet Pow Pow. He loved his family beyond all else. Marion was saved as a little boy and always held on to his faith even on the darkest days that he was fighting cancer. He said, "I may not beat this cancer, but I will give it a fight". By God's sovereign will Marion has been called home to be with the lord. He was amazing, kind, loving, smart, dedicated and so much more. There are many things we can say about his character but most of all what stands out was he was a man who trusted in Christ. His faith was not loud and showy but steady, thoughtful, and sincere. He was an example of the perseverance of the Saints. We rejoice that he is finally home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, January 5, 2026, at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
