MARION STONE Obituary

MARION K. STONE, 100, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at Saint Anne Home, Fort Wayne. Born Dec. 14, 1920, in Urbank, Minn., she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Reger) Koep. Her early life consisted of working on the family farm in rural Minnesota during the depression. After leaving home, she worked for the USO in Port Clinton, Ohio, during World War II where she met Sgt. Robert Stone. They were married on Dec. 28, 1944 and eventually moved to Fort Wayne. While Marion was primarily a homemaker, she worked at the Indiana Hotel in the 1960's and worked in the cafeteria at North Side High School from 1965 to 1970. She went on to work at the American Red Cross, first as an employee, and then volunteered until her 80's. Marion was a devote catholic, assisting the elderly at home and provided rides to church on Sundays. "Her devotion to faith and family was an example for us all." She was a member of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Marion is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Sue) Stone and Jonathon (Karen) Stone; grandchildren, Duane (Kim) Waterman, Brian (Cindy) Waterman, Jason Stone, Angela (Justin) Johnson, Amanda Stone, Drew Stone, and Nicole Stone; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and all her relatives in Minnesota, Ohio and California. Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Stone; daughter, Donna M. Waterman; and eight siblings. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 112 S. Clinton St., with calling one hour prior. Facial coverings are required. Marion stone was a sweet lady. I met Marion several years ago as I was secretary at the cathedral of the immaculate conception parish. When the masses were offered in the university of st. Francis chapel and local priests would be the celebrant of those masses Marion would attend and I enjoyed attending those as well. Several years ago when Marion was 98 years old I told her she would live to be 100 years old. She said she did not think so, but look Marion did live to that special age. What a wonderful outlook on life she had as well. God bless her family.
