Marjorie E. (Young) Birk, lovingly known as a devoted wife, mother, and cherished family member, passed away on February 26, 2024, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born on October 16, 1929, in Montgomery, Alabama to parents Mildred and John Young.

Marjorie had an illustrious career where she dedicated her time and skills to various roles. She worked at Barth Electric Co., Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1947 to 1959 as a Secretary & Assistant Office Manager. Following that, she joined the Indiana Manufacturers Supply Company from 1959 to 1968 as a Secretary & Assistant Bookkeeper. One of the significant chapters of her career was spent at the General Motors Indianapolis Manufacturing Plant (formerly Chevrolet Commercial Body Plant) in Indianapolis from February 1968 to September 1, 1987, serving as the Executive Secretary to the Plant Manager.

Outside of work, Marjorie was actively involved in several organizations and affiliations that brought her joy and fulfillment such as Christ United Methodist Church Chattanooga where she participated in the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Beach Grove Chapter No. 465, Order of the Eastern Star in Beech Grove, Indiana; Clark County Nevada Genealogical Society in Las Vegas, Nevada; and Daughters of the American Revolution, Valley of Fire Chapter in Las Vegas.

Marjorie will be dearly missed by her surviving family and friends including her son John R. (Diane) Teater; stepdaughter Marcella L. (George) Collins; stepdaughter Krezlyn Waukau; sister Milred J. Rebennack; grandchild Zina Fransesco; grandchildren George E. Collins III, Sheryl L. Collins, Adrian Waukau, Charles Collins, Diana Waukau Peters; great-grandchildren Zayla R. Teater, Zoe DiFransesco, Kayla Collins, Tara Sullivan, Peyton Collins, Trinity Collins, 2nd Lt. Dylan Wong; great-great-grandchild Nevaeh Collins, Thorson Owen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Birk and her mother Mildred E. Young; father John M. Young; brother John M. Young; sister LaVerne Croucher; sister Mary K. Krueger; sister Bernice A. Bailey.

A visitation will be held on March 9th at Washington Park East Flanner Buchanan in Indianapolis starting at 11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM to honor and remember Marjorie's life.

Marjorie's kindness and love towards her family and friends will always be remembered fondly by all who knew her. May she rest in peace knowing she was deeply loved and cherished by many.
