It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marjorie “Marge” Claire Deline, 89, of Winchendon. Marge died peacefully Saturday, March 1, 2025, in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, MA, after a period of declining health.
Born in Winchendon on February 17, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Maurice “Robert” and Mary (Johnson) Webb. She graduated from Murdock High School with the Class of 1954.
Marjorie is survived by her son, John M. Deline, Jr. and his wife Michelle L. Deline of Royalston; her daughter, Tracy A. Deline-Barrows and her husband Jeremy A. Barrows of Winchendon; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Brenner-Deline of San Marcos, California; two grandsons, Austin J. Barrows and Alec M. Barrows; a step-granddaughter, Jami Owen; a step-grandson, Scott Owen; a step great-grandson, Azrael Owen; a brother, Ronald Webb of Winchendon; a sister-in-law, Joyce Webb of Gardner, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cat Missy, Marge loved her deeply and Missy returned her love, spending hours each day laying in her lap, cuddling.
Her oldest son, Brian K. Deline, passed away unexpectedly in 2021. This was a tremendous loss to her, as it would be to any parent, and she missed him greatly every day. She also was predeceased by a sister, Norma Anderson, and two brothers, Robert Webb and Gerald Webb.
Marge spent almost her entire life in Winchendon. After she graduated from Murdock High School, she worked in the offices of Winchendon Furniture and then New England Wooden Ware. Once her family had grown to three children, she became a full-time homemaker. She deeply loved and was dedicated to her children and worked very hard to provide them with the best life possible. She guided, supported, and protected them at every turn. She also loved her sister and brothers as well as their families, and had many great memories and stories of them growing up together and throughout their adult lives. As time went on, she gained two daughter-in-laws and a son-in-law, and then grandchildren, she treasured them all. She would never waste an opportunity to tell one of us how proud she was of us. Later in life she worked part-time at the Harbour Restaurant and Clark Memorial, to this day people still talk about her charming personality.
Marge enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Austin and Alec. She was extremely proud of the young men that she watched them grow into. Marge would attend their baseball and football games whenever possible. She loved going out to eat with the family and particularly enjoyed going to Pete & Henry’s for birthdays and other special occasions, she was very sad when it was lost to fire, as she had been going there since it opened and their chicken nuggets were her favorite. Lee’s Hot Dog Stand came in second. A beloved activity was trips to Twin River Casino with her family and friends, she was like a child on Christmas morning each time. Her enthusiasm for these trips, even in her later years, brought great joy to us. Her preferred game was “Mr. Woo”, she could not leave without giving “Mr. Woo” a significant donation and, sometimes, she would come out ahead.
Marge’s family and friends will miss her deeply, there is now a void that can never be filled. Her children love her tremendously and are very thankful to have had her as their mother. We have some comfort in knowing that she is at peace now and no longer in pain, but the sorrow of her loss is still overwhelming.
