Marjorie (Margie) Robertson Kammerud passed away on January 1, 2025, at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison,
WI. She was born in 1922 in Mount Auburn, Illinois to Ebenezer and Mabelle Robertson where her father was a
Methodist minister and farmer. During the Great Depression, the family moved to Argyle, Wisconsin where they
farmed at various locations around Argyle. Margie attended the Owego Rural School and graduated from Argyle
High School in 1939.
Margie and Harlan Kammerud were married in 1940. While Harlan was serving in the US Army during World War
II, Margie remained in Argyle. They resided in Argyle where they raised their daughters, Lynn (Steiner) and Sheree (Mader). They owned and operated Argyle Automotive Service until Harlan's unexpected death in 1968. They were devout members of
the Argyle Methodist Church, where Margie was a lay pastor and directed the Sunday School, junior choir and
Youth Fellowship. Throughout her life her strong religious faith never wavered. After Harlan's passing Margie moved to Appleton, Wisconsin. She began working in the business office at St. Elizabeth Hospital and quickly rose to the position of credit manager where she remained until her retirement in 1988. She earned numerous certifications pertaining to her position as credit manager. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Fox Cities Campus in Appleton.
Margie's family was her life. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader and writer of short stories, a fabulous cook, homemaker and lover of dogs.
She moved to Madison in 2010 to be near her daughters and grandchildren. She leaves behind her daughters,
Lynn and Sheree, grandchildren, Kara Pfeifer (Gerry) and Scott Steiner, and many nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her husband, daughter, Susan Jane in infancy, her parents, and all her siblings – Ralph, Thelma,
Paul, Elizabeth, George, Veta Mae and Ernest and her beloved dogs, Corky, Buffy and Skippy.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Mary's Care Center for the loving care given to
Mom during the time she resided there.
Per Margie's wishes, private services for the immediate family have been held with burial in Woodlawn
Cemetery in Argyle. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
Thank you, Mom, for setting an example of gratitude, strength, faith, grace, and the value of life. We are happy
you are reunited with Dad.
