Marjorie E. Stone passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the age of 96.

She was born May 13, 1929, in Coyville, Kansas, the 11th of 12 children, to Milton and Stella Trimmel. She lived on a farm until her father’s passing at age 54, leaving her mother and 5 children still at home. In 1946, the family moved to Fredonia so the girls could get jobs. Marjorie began working and sat next to a cute young man who had just returned from the service. His mother told him to find a nice girl and get married. That he did. Frank Stone and Marjorie were united in marriage May 4, 1947. Their only child, Douglas, was born in 1948. They moved to Wichita in 1952 and began working at Boeing until they retired. After retirement, they travelled all 50 states, enjoyed winters in Texas, and loved fishing.

Following Frank’s death in 2011, Marjorie became a part of the “Fruitcakes”, a great group of ladies who enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, bingo, going to lunch, dinner, and celebrating each other. She spent many hours at the Derby Senior Center. She enjoyed many ballgames over the years, proudly watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren play ball. Marjorie stayed in her home until September 2023. She moved to Copperstone Apartments where she found amenities to make life a little easier and made more friends. She continued to drive up until the last few months of her life.

Marjorie loved her family fiercely. Survivors include her son, Doug (Gloria) Stone, grandchildren, Melissa (Jason) Igo, Kayla (Ron) Eldridge, all of Derby, Christopher Stone of Arlington, Va., great grandchildren, Tanner, Hunter, Jaedyn, and Adisyn Igo, Anna, Jaxon, and Jace Eldridge, nieces and nephews, and longtime friends. She will be missed.

Memorial graveside service is 1:00PM, Monday, December 1, 2025, at El Paso Cemetery, 700 E. Kay St., Derby, Ks.
