Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation CenterMarjorie Jean Tereschuk, 97, of Michigan City, IN, and formerly of Vestaburg, MI, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at The Elms of Michigan City.
She was born on August 2, 1928, in Brown City, MI, to Alva and Leila (Smith) Swayze.
Marjorie married Walter Tereschuk on May 7, 1949. They lived in Sandusky, MI, many years before moving to Vestaburg, MI, and ultimately residing in Michigan City, IN.
She is survived by three children, Shirley Hoag of New Buffalo, MI, Walter "Jim" (Sylvia) Tereschuk of Frisco, TX, and Barbara (Dr. Gerrit) VanderLugt of La Porte, IN; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; grandson, Michael Hoag; sisters, Fern Murray, Geraldine Clothier, and Barbara Tosch; brothers, Elmer Swayze and Don Swayze.
She graduated from Brown City High School and later attended Central Michigan University. Marjorie retired from the Sandusky Branch of Citizen Federal.
Marjorie was a Sunday School teacher and active in her church, First Baptist Church in Vestaburg, MI, for many years. She enjoyed her church family very much. Marjorie enjoyed baking, but found her greatest joy when being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so very grateful for her own dear family.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the service.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, MI.
Memorial donations may be made to Gideons International, https://gideons.org/donate.
