John Edward Rosebaum, 86, of Hanna, IN, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family.
John was born on January 10, 1939, in Culver, IN, to John and Ellen (Bauman) Rosebaum.
On December 25, 1958, in Oceanside, CA, he married Betty Jane Burns who preceded him in death on October 20, 2024. Surviving John are his 4 children, Colette Rosebaum of La Porte; John (Lisa) Rosebaum of Union Mills; Edward (Pam) Rosebaum of La Porte; and Douglas (Tammy) Rosebaum of Hanna; 2 granddaughters, Brittany (Mike) Pavelchak of La Porte and Georgie (James) Marvel of La Porte; 4 grandsons, Heath (Natasha) Rosebaum, Edward (Nicky) Rosebaum of La Porte, Benjamin (Tanner) Rosebaum of Union Mills, and Nicholas Rosebaum of Hanna; 9 great-grandchildren, Louie, Rylee, Pax, Rowan, Edward, Jimmie, Lainey, Rainn, and Sophie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters, Barbara Miller and Janet Crum; and brother, Phillip "Joe" Rosebaum.
John proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Lance Corporal.
He was an Operating Engineer for many years, retiring from Larson and Danielson Construction Company in 2001. John was a member of the Free and Accepted Mason and volunteered as a Hanna firefighter. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. After retirement, John found joy in coaching jr. high and elementary boys' basketball at South Central Jr-Sr. High School.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Carl Galloway officiating. Burial will follow at Hanna Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 2 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held by the Knox Masonic Lodge #639 at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jane Bernard Animal Adoption Center, 2855 West State Road 2, La Porte IN 46350.
