It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our mother, Marjorie I. (Sweetman) Ugo a resident of North Dighton, previously of Stoughton, age 96, who passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024 at Life Care Center of Raynham. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, George M. Ugo who passed in 2006. Born in Canton, she was the daughter of the late William G. Sweetman and Clara (MacFarlane) Sweetman, and was raised and educated in Stoughton, where she met her husband George in her younger years. They were married at age 18, and started their lives together as a young couple in love, raising their six girls in Stoughton, Raynham, and Bridgewater. She resided in Pace, FL for 2 years after living in Stoughton for many years, and Raynham for over 15 years, before becoming a resident of North Dighton. She worked as a skilled seamstress at Barrows Fabric in Canton for many years, working on custom draperies as a specialty. She was a Girl Scout Leader for several years, and worked at Sears in the retail department in the older years of her life. The proudest moments of her life was being a mother to her six girls, devoting her love and care as a parent and spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking homecooked meals for her family, in particular her meatloaf, and could especially make a ‘mean’ Italian dish. Marjorie’s homemade frosting was always a staple in their home when she was baking cupcakes for family parties, and her girls to this day still cannot quite make it like mom. Her brownies never sat on the table long enough for someone to have a second serving. She truly had a love and knack for sewing, and would even make her children’s clothes as they were growing up. She also designed a pattern for quilted bags which she sewed and gave away to friends and family. She had an incredible vocabulary and would often write poems about her life experiences. An avid reader, Marjorie could put her nose in a book and would finish it in a day when she dedicated her time to the hobby. She was a devoted watcher of "The Five" and a big fan of Greg Gutfeld. She was also a proud supporter of MAGA. She will be greatly missed by her beloved daughters and family, and those who knew her.

Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Christo of South Yarmouth, Gina Ugo of Pace, FL, Cynthia Ugo Pollard and her husband Marc of Taunton, Michele Hathaway of Taunton, Diana Shannon and her husband Matthew of North Dighton, and Kristin Gagnon and her husband Daniel of Taunton. She was the “Nannie” to 11 grandchildren, and is survived by her 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her 7 siblings and leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park Street (Rt. 27), Stoughton, on Wednesday September 11th from 9:30-11 AM, with Funeral Prayers at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
