Obituary of Mary A. Ugo
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our honored mother, grandmother and friend. Mary Agnes (Hallet) Ugo passed peacefully in her sleep on April 27, 2024 at AdviniaCare in Venice, FL. She was 90 years old. Daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Williams) Hallet, Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, Louie Ugo and their infant son, James Ugo, and her brothers, Joseph Hallett, Robert Hallett and James Hallett. Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Debbie Ugo of Venice, FL, her daughter, Marylou Ugo of Englewood, FL and granddaughter, Amy Wood and her husband Brian of Hudson, MA as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Born in Stoughton, MA, Mary attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Stoughton High School. She began her working career as a telephone operator and moved onto an assistant position for the Real Estate Commission in Boston, obtaining her Real Estate License and following up with many other college courses. She and her husband, Louie were co-owners of the Dunkin' Donuts stores in Stoughton for 30 years. Family always came first for Mary, spending countless hours in frigid ice rinks from Stoughton, MA to Lake Placid, NY, allowing her children the opportunity to chase their skating dreams; figure skating for Marylou and hockey for Paul. Although long time Stoughton residents, the couple enjoyed many seasons in Ogunquit, ME, until finally landing in Venice, FL in 2000. Mary and Louie were avid travelers and there was very little they left undiscovered. Trips with family, trips with friends and, being young at heart, special Disney getaways were always on the calendar. Wherever they went, Mary was sure to take time to talk with and ask about those around her; fellow travelers, waitstaff, cab drivers, tour guides and street vendors. She had a magical way of making everyone she came in contact with feel special. Mary's love for family is evident in the many, many memories she created and it is these memories that we will all hold dear to our hearts. Mary's presence will be sorely missed but we know that Louie has been sitting on a bench just waiting for her to arrive.
Mary & Louie. Together again. May we all strive for even a piece of that joy. Services will be private.
