Marjorie Zimmerman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Browning-Forshay Funeral Home - Hawthorne on Dec. 5, 2025.
Marjorie Ruth Zimmerman (Stillwell), 102 years old, passed from this life into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
She was born at home in Bergenfield, NJ, the daughter of the late Lester J. Stillwell and Natalie Harriet (Ryder) Stillwell. She lived in many places in NJ but in recent years lived in Hawthorne for 45 years. Her late husband, Ernest W. Zimmerman, preceded her in death in 2004. She was dearly loved and survived by her children, Kathryn Schwartz (Robert), Barbara Williams, William Zimmerman (Anne), Jean Lee (James), and Irene Murray (Tim). Her son, Charles, was born and died in India in 1955. She was the proud Grandmother of Stephen, David, Justus, Ashley, Eric, Allegra, Timothy, Christian, Matthew, Emily, David, John, Daniel, and Joshua; Great Grandmother of Chloe, Reid, Aslyn, and Finley. Nothing put a smile on her face like being with her children and grandchildren and she was always ready for a visit.
Marjorie was a 1940 graduate of Tenafly High School, and later a graduate of Barrington College, RI, (now Gordon) and Wheaton College, IL. She majored in English with a music (piano) minor. She enjoyed travelling throughout New England with her college gospel music team. She met her husband, Ernest, at Wheaton College. After they married in 1948, they became missionaries in the Indian state of Manipur. She had many other titles including homemaker, piano teacher, and bookkeeper. Marjorie loved the Lord. She was a long-time member of Hawthorne Gospel Church where she volunteered and frequently played the piano for Wednesday prayer meetings and at Preakness Health Care Center. She was a gifted knitter, loved to read, enjoyed puzzles, and spent many hours tending her garden.
Her life verse was Psalm 16:8.
"Because The Lord is at my right hand, I shall not be greatly moved".
