Mark Avrunin, of Waynesville, passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born on April 28, 1942, to the late William and Frieda Avrunin.

Mark was the proud owner and operator of a commercial insurance company, where he was respected in his field. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1969.

Known for his infectious humor and kind spirit, Mark could light up any room with his sense of humor, charm, and positivity.

Mark never knew a stranger, he dove in headfirst to any project or new hobby. He was an avid golfer. In his later years he took up drawing and playing cards with friends.

He valued spending time with friends and family and being active in the community. He loved being a husband, a dad and a grandpa who never said no.

Mark's dedication to his community was notable; he was a cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville for 23 years, where he found inspiration and fellowship in his Sunday School and Bible Study groups.

Mark's family includes his devoted wife, Charlene Avrunin, with whom he shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. He is survived by his children Steven Semken (Ingrid), Holly Malone, Abby Avrunin (Brian), the late Michael Jolly, as well as his sister, Stephanie Waldman (Ross).

Marks's legacy will continue through his grandchildren: Fenna Semken (Jack), Nickolas Malone (Oberon), and Benjamin Malone, along with one great-grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Cherie Pattishall (Mike), and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Waynesville, from 12:45 PM to 1:45 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, followed by a celebration of life at Wells Reception Center with an opportunity to share memories.

Mark Avrunin will be remembered for the joy he brought to others, his love of family, and his unwavering faith. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who have the privilege to know him.

The care of Mr. Avrunin has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville, and an online memorial register is available at "Obituaries" at www.wellsfuneralhome.com
