Mark Bacon Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 30, 2025.
Mark Bacon, also known as 'Big Mark' to his friends and family passed away at the age of 76 on January 25, 2025. Son of Francis and Edith Bacon, Mark was born and raised in Braintree, MA.
He graduated from Braintree High School in 1966. Mark married the love of his life, Joanne Laing, on October 30th,1970, and together they raised two children, Marc and Jenny, in East Bridgewater. Mark's love for Joanne was constant and unwavering, the embodiment of a true love story. In sickness and in health, in good times and bad, he adored and cared for Joanne until her passing in 2021.
A devoted father, Mark was a constant presence in his children's life. He coached basketball, baseball and softball and was the Cubmaster for Troop 28. He and Joanne never missed a school event, concert, band competition, dance recital or drama club production. He will be remembered fondly for his singing and dancing in the kitchen with his children. Including when Jenny's tap shows ruined the new linoleum floor. (Ok, he wasn't thrilled about the floor.) Mark worked as Parts Manager at Neponset Lincoln Mercury in Dorchester, MA for 50 years and was known as 'Parts King' to friends and coworkers.
He loved cars, golf, bowling, card games with neighbors, playing in the pool with his kids and telling a good story. And he had great stories. Some of them were even true. He was the kind of guy that you could call at any hour of the day, and he would show up to help. He made others feel at ease but also stood up for what was right.
Mark loved singing along with the Elvis and Roy Orbison. Even as his health deteriorated in his final months, he could be found entertaining his fellow residents at Heights Crossing with his singing and dancing. Father of Marc W. Bacon and his wife Jennifer of East Brunswick, NJ and Jennifer Martin and her husband Patrick of Enfield, CT. Cherished "Papa" of Camille, Delaney, Ben and Max, Mark is also survived in the hearts of all his friends and extended family.
A Remembrance Service for Mark will be held at Olde Scotland Links, 695 Pine St, Bridgewater, MA on March 2nd, 2025 from 11am to 1pm. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Mark may be made to the American Liver Foundation.
