Mark Brecher, 79, of
West Nyack, NY, passed away on June 11, 2025. Born on November 16, 1945, at Manhattan Hospital to Harry and Ruth Brecher, Mark spent his early years in the Bronx before moving to Baldwin, Long Island. He grew up alongside his brothers, Ira and Gerald, and was later lovingly raised by his stepmother Gertrude Brecher. He lived a life defined by conviction, generosity, and unwavering loyalty.
A proud U.S. Army veteran and Airborne Ranger, he served during both the Dominican Civil War and the Vietnam War, experiences that profoundly shaped his values and sense of purpose.
Mark met his beloved wife, Nancy Jeanne Robinson, at the University of Miami. Together, they built a full and meaningful life, living in Colorado Springs before settling in West Nyack in 1973.
They raised four sons-Dax, Dustin, Dane, and Dakotah-instilling in them character, service, humor, and a sense of adventure. Their family grew to include three loving daughters-in-law and seven cherished grandchildren, each of whom brought Mark immense pride. The Brecher home was also filled with the companionship of pets, including Luke, a sweet-natured Labrador, and Gus, the adventurous cat.
Mark spent over 50 years leading Plastic-Craft Products, where he was known for his sharp attention to detail, steady leadership, and problem-solving mindset. He remained actively involved in the business throughout his life.
He will be remembered for his loyalty, humility, and deep knowledge, as well as for the simple pleasures he loved. Mark had a deep affection for animals and flowers, enjoyed Broadway shows, and rarely missed a Yankees game. He found freedom in fishing, joy in the great outdoors, and meaning in traveling the world with Nancy and his entire family, collecting memories and friendships along the way.
Mark also cared deeply about his community. He served on the board of Heritage of West Nyack, helping beautify and preserve the unique character of the hamlet.
In lieu of flowers, the Brecher family kindly requests that donations be made to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, www.fallenheroesfund.org which supports the U.S. military community and honors Mark's enduring spirit of service. Donations may also be made to the Wildlife Conservation Society, www.bronxzoo.com in support of the Bronx Zoo-a place that brought him lasting joy and reflected his lifelong love of animals.
The service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Rockland Cemetery, 201 Kings Highway, Sparkill, NY 10976. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Mark, please visit our Tree Store.
